Thrill-Seeking RVers
For the adventuresome family, there’s nothing like exploring a good amusement park while you’re on the road. If you’re looking for the thrill of the 60 MPH drop or the lazy river is more your speed, there’s a ride for everyone. As you consider your amusement park getaway, plan to bring your RV to save money on your trip — and put it toward making memories while you’re there. Check out this list of popular RV-friendly theme parks.
Disney World
It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t start out with the Disney World behemoth of theme parks. Disney does it right bysegmenting a special part of their resort for campers, Fort Wilderness. Reserve your spot, roll up and you’re ready to start your Disney experience for around $118 per night. Whether you’ve always dreamed of visiting the Magic Kingdom or experiencing a Saharan safari up close, get the full authentic Disney experience for half the price you would be paying renting a room. Fort Wilderness provides all the amenities you could want while you’re staying, including laundry and dry cleaning facilities, full hook-ups and your own picnic area.
All of the RV spots at Worlds of Fun are based on six people camping. You can sleep more in your RV for a negligible charge of $2 per person per night. Worlds of Fun also rewards people that stay with them discounted park tickets (so don’t book them too far in advance!). If you forget something at home, don’t sweat it! There’s a convenience store in the park to help you fill out your needs. If you’ve got the time, these sister parks offer passes to both at a discounted rate — a steal while you’re busy saving on lodging.
Six Flags St. Louis
Get your kids and grandkids looney when you visit the home of the Looney Tunes characters. They’ll love riding along with their favorite characters in cars made just for them. When they’ve seen all of the “wascally” attractions, save the city from disaster at the Battle of the Metropolis or chill out in the relaxing waves of Hurricane Bay.
At the end of the day, Pin Oak Creek RV Park is waiting for you just twenty minutes from the park. For less than $50 per night and boasting premium amenities, this is the place to camp during your Six Flags stay. Play a few rounds of paintball with friends, challenge your family on the mini golf course or meet new friends through park sponsored events and activities.
Hersheypark
Chocoholics rejoice! This one’s for you. Another theme park that might not have sprung to mind quickly is Hersheypark. You can smell it from miles away, and it’s so sweet it’ll melt in your hand. This park is found in
Hershey, Pennsylvania, and is a tribute to all things chocolate. If you’re looking to spend some time here, it’s a great idea to bring your RV along with you. It’ll save you a ton of money (roughly $100 per night), and you’ll be in your own bed. Make sure you make reservations for your group; spots fill up fast! (Seriously, they’re usually gone by 11 AM).
Silver Dollar City
Though it doesn’t have its own dedicated lodging, Silver Dollar City is located in the Las Vegas of the midwest, Branson, Missouri. It’s packed with hotels and a vacation hot spot during the summer teeming with RVers. If you find that you need a break from the thrills the park offers, grab a turkey leg and settle down for a show. They’re always changing, so you’re sure to get a new experience every time.
Joining nature with theme park, you can see where it all began in 1894 at Marvel Cave, the park’s first main attraction. The naturally occurring cave drew miners and created a bustling mining town, which the park was later built upon. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, wander through like you’re from the 1800’s — by lantern!
Thrill seekers and those who like to take things a little slower can both find happiness with an arrangement that brings nature and intense adventure together. Whatever your pleasure, know that the Good Life will be waiting there for you around that roller coaster’s corner.
